1. Light & Lively Christmas Tree Lighting -Nov. 24th-
Lexington officially kicks off the holiday season with the lighting of the city tree - a local tradition that dates to 1913. This year the activities will take place during Holiday Market on Saturday November 24 at Triangle Park.
2. Southern Lights Festival at the Kentucky Horse Park -Nov. 17th-Dec. 31st-
Over twenty years ago, the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation presented the first ever driving tour of holiday lights, aimed at attracting the local community. Today Southern Lights has evolved to attract over 120,000 visitors each year from across Kentucky and surrounding states and is regularly chosen as a Top 20 Event in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society.
3. Christmas on the Estate -Dec. 2nd-
Head over for the 3rd annual Kentucky Christmas at Ashland! From 12:00 pm-5:00 pm, there is a Christmas Market featuring Kentucky Proud Vendors and Artisans. At 5:15 pm the Ashland Illumination will begin. We will sing carols and illuminate the trees and outbuildings. Candlelight tours will immediately follow the illumination at 5:30 pm.
4. "A Christmas Carol" at Waveland -Dec. 1-3, 8-10, 15-17-
Relive Christmas of the past with scenes from the Dickens’ classic, “A Christmas Carol” at Waveland State Historic Site. Since this Christmas classic was written in 1843, it only seems fitting to celebrate Christmas of the past in a historic home that was built in the same time period. Follow from room–to-room as the drama plays out right in front of you. A magical Christmas experience!
5. Lexington Christmas Parade -Dec. 5th-
Love a Christmas parade? Wave to Santa and other celebrants at the Lexington Christmas Parade. The state's largest holiday parade begins at Main and Midland, and proceeds along Main Street to Mill Street.
6. Downtown Outdoor Ice Rink -Nov.11th-Jan.13th-
Come enjoy a favorite holiday tradition right in the heart of downtown as Triangle Park transforms into a Winter Wonderland!
7. The Holiday Express -Nov. 25th, Dec. 9-10th, 16-17th-
Make sure to bring your camera for this one-of-a-kind experience as you move along the tracks visiting with Santa, enjoying holiday music, and snack on some hot cocoa and cookies!
8. The Kentucky Ballet presents: The Nutckracker -Dec.9th-17th-
Celebrate holiday cheer and the Christmas spirit with the classical ballet, The Nutcracker. It's not the holidays without the famous story, score and cast of characters!
